Teen Outreach Volunteer Program

Teen Outreach Volunteer ProgramTeen girls can make a difference in the lives of young girls by joining the Teen Outreach Volunteer Program. You can help to boost their self-worth by doing fun activities with them that bring out their strengths.  You can help them find the right direction in their lives.

If you're a young woman in grades 9-12 and intersted in learning more about healthy life-choices and issues that affect girls today, Teen Outreach may be for you!

Make a difference in the lives of younger girls by sharing your knowledge through age-appropriate, interactive, fun activities.

Thanks to the generous support of United Way and other community investors, this program is very affordable.  For more information, contact your local Girl Scout office today!

Adult Volunteers: Invite Teen Outreach to make a presentation at an upcoming troop meeting!

How might a Teen Outreach presentation benefit my troop or group?

We gear the presentations to girls in K-6. Often, girls are more willing to listen to teens when they talk about things like respecting yourself and making healthy life decisions. The teens reinforce the same positive messages girls get from adults, and are often able to share their own experiences.

When should I consider having a Teen Outreach presentation?
If you find that your group is encountering situations such as cliques, bullying, or negative attitudes, Teen Outreach members can address these concerns. Also, most of the presentations complete two or more Brownie Try-Its or Junior Badge requirements.

How long is a typical presentation?
Presentations are typically given during regular meetings and last  45 minutes to 90 minutes.

What is the cost for a Teen Outreach presentation?
There is generally no charge for a presentation by Teen Outreach members, unless supplies are needed. The option to purchase supplies on your own is available. Some presentations (Go Global, Girl Scouts Against Smoking, Issues for Girls Series, and STUDIO 2B Focus Books) require a purchase of one booklet per girl.

To learn more about the program, contact Lakes and Pines Council. To schedule a presentation, fill out and return a presentation request form. We require four weeks notice.
